Workforce Development Series

- Live Stage Production -

This four-part workshop led by accomplished professionals from around the region focuses on stage production as a foundation for live events. The series is geared toward those wanting to start their careers in live event production. Participants will leave with the skills necessary to work at the majority of performing arts venues across the region as a stagehand.

See below for a summary of workshop modules and course details.

Module 1: Introduction to Live Event Production – Introduction to Live Event Production – Local professionals, including Dave Denman from the IATSE Local 229 and touring Audio Engineer Sean Palmer (The Used, Cage The Elephant) discuss the details of their respective roles in audio, lighting and production management, providing in-depth insights from their broad experiences in live event production.

Date/Time: Wednesday, October 30th; 6:30 – 8 pm

Location: The Armory (314 E. Mountain Ave, Fort Collins)

Module 2: Stagehand and Production Support 101 – Dive into stage production and all it entails, including hands-on demonstrations with techs in audio, lighting and stage management.

Date/Time: Wednesday, November 6th; 6:30 – 9 pm

Location: The Armory (314 E. Mountain Ave, Fort Collins)

Module 3: Hands-On Stage Skills Practice – Develop the necessary skills (load-in, input lists, stage plots, cabling, etc.) and prep and plan for the 4th module in which you’ll assist in an actual production.

Date/Time: Wednesday, November 13th; 6:30 – 9 pm

Location: Washington’s (132 Laporte Ave, Fort Collins)

Module 4: Tech a Live Show – Use skills learned to assist the production crew to prepare for and produce a would-be live stage performance.

Date/Time: Tuesday, December 3rd; 3:30 – 10:30 pm

Location: Washington’s (132 Laporte Ave, Fort Collins)

Cost: $50* (includes all four parts of the workshop)
